Would have liked to see post times. With SSD storage, motherboard post times are now becoming the longer wait in a system boot up.

Also interested in thoughts on reasons for Z87 mobos for a standard non-overclocking build. I thought Intel did away with allowing non-k processors to use the four MHz bins with Haswell. It only applies to Sandy and Ivy.

At least that was what has been reported: ASRock is serious about giving you what you want, no matter the twist you desire, and with that in mind, I asked them for some mITX products to ASRock Z87E-ITX XFast USB. I have had many requests for mITX product reviews, so much so that it has almost been overwhelming.

With current technology offering pretty respectable performance while using very little power, many ASRock Z87E-ITX XFast USB want smaller systems that simply take up less space under the desk, or are small enough to dissolve from view in a home theater. There are rare exceptions to this general rule, and the only way to find them is to test motherboards exhaustively.

We also threw an Ivy Bridge-based Z77 board into the mix.

We didn't encounter any big surprises, though. The highlights of our findings are summarized below.

The first test we ran was Stream memory bandwidth. This result persisted after multiple reboots and even after re-imaging the system. However, it didn't seem to affect performance in our other tests.

Despite its bandwidth disadvantage, the Z87E-ITX had no trouble keeping up in our application and gaming tests. The biggest differences here are between the Haswell boards and our lone Ivy Bridge representative.
